Smoking has been hot button issue in York this week as the York Housing Authority rolled out plans to ban smoking in all 1,086 of its units countywide.
Housing officials have sent mixed messages about the policy, which would allow officials to evict tenants caught smoking three or more times in their apartments. Executive Director Richard D. Fox has insisted that the plan is just a draft, but Shelley Peterson, director of housing management for the authority, said later that the smoking ban is almost certainly a done deal.
I stopped by a meeting for residents Wednesday at White Rose Senior Center to live tweet as residents voiced their concerns about the new policy. Check out my tweets and some of the local responses below.
You can check out the policy for yourself on the housing authority’s website.
